How to post to this blog

If you own a cottage on Highland Lake and want to help build the history of our cottages on this blog, here's how to participate:

  1. To post, you must have a Google account.
    1. If you have a gmail.com email address, you have a Google account.
    2. If your email address is not gmail.com, create a Google account here: https://accounts.google.com/SignUp  Click the link for "I prefer to use my current email address".  Then, create a Google account using your current email address.
  2. To become a team member so you can post, private message Carol Spencer or Ricky MacPherson on Facebook or send an email to HighlandLakeBlog@gmail.com with your name and cottage number or address.
  3. You'll receive an invitation to post at the email address provided.  You must click the acceptance link in the email that will come from Blogger.
  4. To post, log into Blogger.com with your Google account (email and password you used when you signed up).
  5. Once in Blogger, you'll see the Highland Lake PA blog.  Choose "Pages" and then your road name from the list.
  6. Each page already has a template with some formatting for titles and paragraph text. If we all use that, the blog will be easier to read.
  7. Below is the header of the posting page.  Be sure you're on Compose and not HTML (unless you know how to write web pages).

The icons are like those on MS Word or similar word processors. To add a link, click Link.  To add a photo, click the photo icon next to the word Link. To add a video, click the video icon next to the photo icon.  You'll get the hang of it fairly easily.

  8. When done, click the orange "Update" button. That will update the page and take you back to the list of pages.

Do not "Revert to Draft" or you will un-publish the entire page making it unavailable for web visitors.  You can also preview your work, or just close the blog page without updating (saving your changes).

Once you've clicked update, there is no need to log out of Blogger; just close the browser window and you're done. That's it.  Now you're a blogger!
